Crown Isle is an upscale neighbourhood in East Courtenay that comprises homes built around and the nearby resort’s Platinum rated golf course. The development is located to the East of the Intersection of Ryan Road and Lerwick drive in Courtenay East and to the West of Anderton Road on the Comox Peninsula. Some homes are just off of the golf course and some have views of the Comox Glacier. All homes are subject to a building scheme.
The Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community
The Crown Isle residential community was born as the genesis of an idea by two businessmen who purchased 871 acres of land that was located just outside the City of Courtenay boundary at the time.
Many market studies were completed in order to determine best use for the land and the conclusion was a residential golf course community. The 18 hole golf course was built over and it was opened over a two year period. The back nine holes opened first in 1992 followed by the front nine in 1993.
Five years later the Crown Ilse resort centre was officially opened along with its restaurants that look out towards the Comox Glacier.
This community can be accessed from Crown Isle off of Ryan Road by the Cosco. Another entrance is from Malahat Drive off of Lerwick Drive just down the street from Mark R Isfeld High School. A third is from Idiens Way off of either Lerwick or Anderton Road.
This video of the Crown Isle neighbourhood last just under 3 minutes. It starts at the Ryan road entrance and there is a drive by of the resort and clubhouse. This is followed by a short drive down Crown Isle drive to provide a sense of the variety of homes available. A turn down Royal Vista Way provides further insight into the single family homes.
While some homes in the area are stratas (condos, patio homes and bare land), the vast majority are freehold ownership. Some homes are just off of the golf course and some have views of the Comox Glacier. All homes are subject to a building scheme.

Regency Place followed in 1995, Windsor Place in 1996, Monarch Drive in 1998, and Majestic Drive in 1997. Royal Place followed in 2002, York Place in 2004, Suffolk Crescent, Sussex Drive and Cardiff Crescent in 2005, followed by Idiens Way, Kent Place, and Bristol Way in 2006. Birkshire Boulevard was next in 2007, and the first MLS sale on Dover Place occurred in 2010 followed by Lancashire Place in 2012. This area continues to be developed and expand.
